Build Power: why it stalls and what to check

Build Power reflects unlocked combat abilities, Aberrant forms and upgrades, Talents, and Core Upgrades. Looking only at the two weapon forms you have equipped misses part of the progression picture.

When the displayed number stays the same

  1. Take a screenshot of your current Build Power and relevant upgrade screen.
  2. Identify which of the four tracks you have checked recently. Use the checklist below if you keep returning to the same weapon branch.
  3. Make one available upgrade and compare the result. A changed damage value and an unchanged displayed Build Power are different observations.
  4. If the encounter remains difficult, inspect its demands and your ability choices instead of assuming the displayed number tells the whole story.

Field-guide diagnostic procedure. No exact Build Power formula or per-upgrade breakpoint is published in the sources used here.

What does Build Power 4 at the CFD mission tell you?

In the linked player discussion, the author reports Build Power 4 after increasing Aberrant Strength from 45 to 55 and buying two Combo Finishers. A reply reports handling the mission at roughly Build Power 5 with a different build. Those accounts do not establish a universal recommended level or prove that enemy scaling is broken. They show why the displayed number and the way a build performs must be checked separately.

In a separate difficulty discussion, players report that buying other forms can improve their weapon power even when those forms are not equipped. One commenter describes a base primary-form unlock as adding 5 to weapon power; another describes Combo Finisher unlocks costing 1 Living Shard. These are player reports from the launch period, not an official Build Power formula or a guaranteed current price. Compare the displayed cost and weapon-strength change in your own upgrade screen before spending.

If you have been upgrading only your favorite branch, inspect another available form or finisher alongside the other three progression tracks. If the in-game cost or gain differs from the report, use your current screen. A missing material, an already-unlocked form and a timing problem each call for a different next step.

Player reports were read October 1, 2026. Weapon power, Aberrant Strength and Build Power should not be treated as interchangeable numbers. No computed upgrade return or mandatory CFD threshold is inferred from these accounts.

Zone progression and a Resonant victory change different things

Xbox Wire’s September launch feature describes local fights, discoveries and quests raising a zone’s level and providing bonuses. It also describes defeating a Resonant making the world more dangerous. Those are separate from the four-track Build Power definition in the hotfix.

Suggested choice: if you need an available upgrade or a local bonus, inspect nearby activities and your current upgrade screen first. Defeating another Resonant brings a new combat ability, but should not be treated as a way to make every existing encounter easier. Test the new ability and inspect changed encounters afterward.

Build Power and Aberrant Strength answer different questions

Build Power summarizes several progression systems. Aberrant Strength describes the weapon's damage and Falter contribution. The launch hotfix revised the English UI to make that distinction clearer.

Use the first number as a broad prompt to inspect your progression; use the relevant weapon and ability screens to understand what an individual purchase changes.

Choose the next retry deliberately

Example: you have spent most of your resources on one preferred form and a boss still takes too long. Check your available abilities, other Aberrant upgrades, Talents, and Core Upgrades before purchasing another upgrade from habit. The checklist records which screens you inspected; it does not claim to read your save or calculate hidden scaling.
